The health of residents at The Argyle Care Home is a massive priority for us and we make sure that we all remain as safe as possible from the risks of COVID-19. We continue to follow guidance and legislation as issued by the Government and key sector bodies.

In line with recent Scottish Government guidance effective from September 2022, care homes in Scotland no longer require face masks to be worn during visits due to high vaccination rates and other mitigations against COVID-19 in the social care sector and LFD testing is no longer necessary. Face masks will continue to be provided at the home should it be your preference to continue to wear one and staff will support the preferences of our residents who wish for our staff to wear face masks whilst providing them with care.

At The Argyle Care Home, we continue to deliver the highest standards of cleanliness, care and support to ensure that our residents and their family members are as protected against COVID-19 as possible.
At The Argyle Care Home, we provide everyone with a supply of PPE and sanitation hand products within our home.
We know it is important to remain compliant with the official advice and guidance provided by our Health and Social Care Partnerships. At The Argyle, we recommend all of our residents and staff have their vaccinations and boosters up to date. If cases do arise in the home, we have an effective system for recording cases and taking appropriate action to keep the home safe.
Moving on from COVID-19, we continue to encourage our residents to stay connected with their families and friends more than ever. With our support, our residents within The Argyle are able to temporarily leave our care home for day trips and overnight stays. To allow us to do this, residents will be required to undertake an individual risk assessment which includes the use of respiratory screening questions upon returning to the home. At the moment, there are no requirements for testing and isolation for individuals who temporarily leave the home but to ensure everyone’s safety, we do encourage our residents to keep up with vaccinations for day trips and overnight stays.
If there are restrictions to visiting a family member in our home due to an outbreak, we have a number of devices that we can give to our residents to video call their loved ones. We understand the importance that human connection and participation in activities provide for our resident’s mental and physical well-being, which is why we go above and beyond to support residents in continuing with their hobbies, experiencing new interests, and meeting new people.

Since 14th September 2022, the guidance to wear a face mask when visiting a care home in Scotland stopped. This means that you are no longer required to wear a mask when visiting a loved one in a care home. However, if you would prefer to continue wearing a mask during your visits, then you will be supported. There may also be occasions when a care home requests visitors to wear a mask, such as during an outbreak in the home.
When transferring from the community or another care home a person does not need to isolate if the circumstances at the care home / interim care facility from which the person has transferred are known.
If the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform two LFT tests on day (0), and again on day (2). Isolation can end following two negative tests.
If the resident tests positive in the home, they must be isolated for 5 days. The resident can then return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature (without the use of medication paracetamol).
Residents who test positive should avoid contact with other people who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.
During an outbreak, there may be risk assessments carried out to include but are not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home, and the use of communal areas for a period of time.
